Wines and tapas in Barcelona
Aside from its distinguished history, culture, and urbanism, Barcelona also stands out thanks to its splendid cuisine, blending Mediterranean flavors with a great selection of wines and cavas (Spanish sparkling wines). One of the best ways to enjoy its cuisine and wines is to take up one of the appetizer routes around the city.
You will find the best offer in snack bars out in the Gothic neigborhood, the Born neighborhood and the Gracia district. In the Rambla de Cataluña you will find Ciudad Condal, a bar offering – aside from a wide selection of beers – great variety and quality in snacks, tacos, and small sandwiches. It is one of the busiest snack bars thanks to its exquisite cuisine, its big terrace, and excellent location.
Disset Graus is found in this same area, a rustic yet elegant bar very close to Francia Station. It counts with one of the best selections of national and international wines you will find in the entire city. This bar offers more than 60 red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines from Italy, France, and Portugal. In addition, Disset Graus is one of the few establishments in Barcelona where you will be able to enjoy a nice champagne glass served with French cheese.
Next to the Picasso Museum you will find El Xampanyet, an old winery founded in 1929 that still preserves its own personality, something earned through so many decades of service. Here, you will be able to get a taste of delicious traditional appetizers, such as anchovies and shellfish, always served with a good “xampanyet,” a white sparkling wine original from this fine establishment.
Els Sortidors del Parlament winery, located in the Raval neighborhood, is yet another model location for all wine lovers. Here, you will find a wide selection of wines and vermouths from all over the world, alongside a predominant presence of Catalonian broths. The best drinks can be taken with all kinds of snacks, ranging from Iberian cold cuts and canned foods to quail egg “tortilla” with black truffle.
To enjoy appetizers from international and avant-grade cuisines, your best option will be to hit establishments like Samsara or D.O, both located in the Gracia district. Samsara stands out thanks to its bohemian and relaxed ambiance featuring Hindu decorations and low tables. Here you will be able to enjoy a great selection of creative appetizers, melting Mediterranean flavors with Japanese and French cuisine. D.O Vins i Platillos is a small bar perfect for drinking wine and eating original appetizers, which can range from Iberian ham to tataki beef in soy or fried yuca. As one of the most popular bars in the area, it is always crowded.
